There are no words to describe how happy we are with the fact that all the talks about mental health are finally bringing in a much-needed change in our home environment. The very fact that our mental health matters equally, if not more, in comparison to our physical health is finally starting to make sense to our age-old society. And talking about mental health, the one very important section of the society includes the students. Especially the ones still in school. With the on-going pandemic situation, along with all others, the students are going through a very drastic change in terms of their routine and lifestyle. And not too surprisingly, the mental health of our students in the country are being bypassed. Hence, in this blog, we are going to talk about ways to sustain the mental health of the budding minds while they’re living back at home.

1. Beginning with the toddlers, the little ones of class group kindergarten to class two are the ones who’ll try to imitate everything that adults do. Also, since they are extremely new to the tech world, it is the duty of the adults to give them the right kind of exposure for their growth. Starting with not allowing to use gadgets all the time other than when it’s necessary is very important. It is also very important to give enough attention to the kids while keeping them engaged in some kind of activities.

2. Moving on to the next class group from class three to eight. This is the age where the kids will learn a lot of new things which will affect their thinking and shape their mindset invariably. It is very important for the parent to guide the kid through it all so that the sense of right and wrong is built within them while bonding so that they can also open up to the parents regarding whatever, it is running in their minds.

3. The next class group is from nine to twelve. Kids falling under this class group are essentially in their adolescent stage of life. Undoubtedly, the rebelliousness that kids generally showcase might or might not lead to serious mental health problems. For the parents, it is very important to befriend their kids so that a safe space is created for them to speak their minds. As important as it is to listen to what your kids have to say, it is also important to realise where these thoughts come from and address them. Enhancing the help-seeking behaviour will be very helpful in maintaining stable mental health. Also, as important as it is to learn to be socially connected learning and supporting the development of life skills is extremely important.

Apart from maintaining a healthy lifestyle, it is also very important to address all the troublesome thoughts that crosses your mind as a student. One can try meditation and yoga to calm oneself and maintain sanity. There are no hard and fast rules as to what and how things can be done. Hence, make your pick wisely. Stay safe, and stay well!
