In a revolutionary move, the year 1986 National Policy on Education was replaced by PM Modi-led central government with the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020 on 29th July.
Now the Policy is the talk of the town between the parents, students, and teachers trying to understand its impact. It is going to be the ocean of changes, and many educators believe that National Education Policy is futuristic and ambitious.
NEP is approved by the Cabinet government, covering extensive reforms making a major change in the school and higher education curriculum and teaching.
Let's learn more about NEP!
NEP stands for National Education Policy that will completely change the CBSE education system. It will not only impact the way students were taught in class, also change the way assessments and examinations are conducted in schools. It provides the students the opportunity to develop new skills and choose career options based on it.
The multidisciplinary education system is boosted by the policy, which is aligned with the international system of education. Also, the process will stay the same for higher education that will focus more on research.
How can parents choose the right curriculum for their children? To understand this, one needs to understand the structure of the new National Education Policy. In this blog, we'll assist you to analyze how CBSE is preparing itself to provide international level education for its students.
NEP introduced 3 years of pre-schooling like IB and Cambridge, which offers the dedicated programs for the primary year. Dismantling the 10+2 concept, now the policy works on 5+3+3+4 structure for 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, 14-18 years of age. The age groups are classified in foundational, preparatory, middle, secondary stages. Hence, the new education policy will be having a dedicated 3 years of pre-schooling and 12 years of schooling.
CBSE is always known for its regular memory-based assessments and rote learnings. For the parents knowing about the benefits of a global approach, this was the major setback. But now parents are happy to watch the shift that will focus more on conceptual clarity, test analysis, and critical thinking of their children. Your child only needs to appear for the exams in 3,5 and 8. Board exams for 10th and 12th students will be conducted with all new approaches.
This change is welcoming and much-needed!
The multilingualism-based shift was one of the highly debated topics of NEP 2020. The National Education Policy advocates for the mother-tongue/regional language/local language as the medium of learning at least till the 5th standard, but one can opt it till 8th standard and even beyond, depending on the preferences.
NEP is all set to incorporate technology in the education system that was previously incorporated by some of the known CBSE brands like Pragati Vidya Peeth and others. Now, all the CBSE schools will be equipped with a new model of teaching.
The NEP 2020 has introduced sweeping reforms in the education system of India. Now, the schools which were looking for international boards for global education can consider the national curriculum. Thus, parents like you will also consider your children to get top-notch education right in your country.
